Eaca Video Genie 1/EG-3003 - 1980

The EG-3003 was a clone of the TRS-80 and made in Hong Kong. In software terms there were few differences (mostly to remove references to TRS-80) . It had a similar proper keyboard though was available with an internal tape recorder which was very reliable. The alternative model had a numeric keypad instead of the tape recorder. Released in 1980, the machine came with 16KB of memory and the Level-2 BASIC ROM so matched the best of the TRS-80. The Video Genie was also cheaper than the TRS-80. They seemed to be purchased by teaching establishments prior to the BBC Micro.
